Please be patient, as I have a ton of information, I will try to insert most of the Big Lift as space permits,
I will post images on a weekly basis....

First ever air lift of a whole division from Fort Hood
to Germany in 1963. (I just recently back from a tour in Korea in 1962 when
when I was slated to go with the whole 2nd Armored Div. to Germany)

Side Note, not related to "Big Lift"

The C-124 was the plane that opens in the front to load vehicles and also a ramp
in the rear to load other equipment....This is the same plane we flew from the 97th Signal Bn.
to go to Spain for a field
maneuver in 1967 called Pathfinder Express. A whole AN/GRC 26 radio mounted on a 2-1/2 ton
truck, was loaded in the front of the plane and the generator trailer for the radio was hoisted
in the rear ramp of the plane. there were only me and my radio crew in the plane (I was stationed with the 97th
Signal Battalion in Germany twice while in the army) it was a harrowing experience sitting in the plane
with this huge truck and trailer with radio hut in the plane and watching through the space between
the ramp and the body of plane at the cities down below...how a plane with so much weight could fly is
beyond me.

Here shows the C-124 with open doors, also it took 30 hours, with refueling stops, it
